Finance Apprentice
Job Description:
Located in Leek, Staffordshire, F. Ball and Co. Ltd. is the UK’s market leading manufacturer of flooring adhesives
and floor preparation products and is a recognised leading brand within the contract flooring industry.
We have an exciting opportunity for Finance Apprentice. Reporting to the Management Accountant, this role will
initially cover all aspects of the Purchase Ledger and Sales Ledger functions, and it is envisaged that on
completion the successful candidate will progress to a Level 6 apprenticeship, full AAT qualification, and a
financial/management accounting role within the business.
This is a full-time role consisting of 37.5 hours per
week Monday to Friday 08:30-17:00.
Key Responsibilities:
• Purchase Ledger
o Registering and matching purchase invoices to ensure that the goods/services have been received
o Checking authorisation levels have been adhered to
o Processing invoices onto the ERP system
o Ensuring suppliers are paid to agreed commercial terms
o Liaising with suppliers to ensure speedy resolution of queries
• Sales Ledger:
o Monitor and log incoming payments to the Sterling and Euro bank accounts
o Calculate and post Sales Ledger receipts, including banked S/L cheques
o Credit Control including contacting overdue customers both UK and overseas
o Production of internal month end reports
o Distributing statements to UK and overseas customers
• General administration within a busy accounts’ office and other ad hoc tasks
Apprenticeship Studies and Activities:
• Undertake Level 3 Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship. This will involve at least 20% of total working time
off the job to complete studies
• AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting
• Engage in on-site training opportunities and participate in school’s liaison activities and careers events as
required
